INJURED PEDESTRIAN TRANSFERRED TO SOUTHAMPTON

collisioninvestigatiounitsunnyA pedestrian injured in a road traffic collision in Newport on Saturday night has been transferred to Southampton General Hospital. 

A woman – believed to be aged between 25-45 – was struck by a car on the Fairlee Road and Medina Way slip road at around 19:45 on Saturday. The woman was taken to St Mary’s Hospital with minor injuries, however has since been transferred to the mainland with a serious head injury. She is said to be in a stable condition, however.

Investigators from Hampshire’s Collision Investigation Unit arrived at the scene yesterday (Sunday) to carry out further examinations of the area indicating the seriousness of the incident.

The road was closed for around 45 minutes at the time of the collision.
