Police are investigating a burglary after St Mary’s Church in Brighstone was broken into overnight, with cash stolen from a donations box.
Officers were called to the church this morning (Wednesday) following reports that the building had been unlawfully entered sometime during the night.
It has been confirmed that cash was taken from within the place of worship.
The local community is being urged to check their own properties and report any suspicious activity.
No arrests have been made at this time.
Today’s incident follows a similar occurrence last month, when an individual attempted to break into the same church. That incident led to the arrest of a 34-year-old man from Shanklin, who has been bailed until July.
