UPDATED: Further issues with Hovertravel’s year-old Island Flyer hovercraft has forced the company to run a shuttle service this afternoon (Thursday).
Earlier on passengers were forced to disembark onto the wet sand at Ryde when the hovercraft failed to make it up the slipway.
The 2 aging Freedom 90 and Island Express craft are continuing the Cross-Solent service, with crossings arriving and departing as frequently as possible.
Hovertravel initially blamed dense fog for instigating a shuttle service, but it is thought this service update was issued in error.
UPDATE @ 19:11 – Hovertravel have now resumed a normal timetabled service.
