A 27-year-old man from Hertfordshire remains in custody on suspicion of assault following a domestic-related incident at Travelodge in Ryde late last night (Tuesday).
As first reported by Island Echo, Police were called to the budget chain hotel on Lind Hill shortly after 21:30.
Once on scene, it’s thought that an officer may have pressed their red button to call for assistance, with a large number of units descending on the area from across the Island at 22:00.
The suspect was PAVA sprayed in the face by attending officers, who then restrained him and placed him into the back of a cell van.
No one was seriously hurt.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed the 27-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and 3 offences of assaulting an emergency worker.
He remains in custody at this time.
