Residents in Cowes have spent hours scrubbing off deeply offensive, racist and darn right annoying graffiti after red spray paint was used to criminally damage a number of vehicles overnight.
Police have launched an investigation after a number of cars and vans were targeted overnight between Halloween and this morning (Saturday).
It appears that only white coloured vehicles have been targeted by the individual or individuals involved – with at least 1 black car also damaged.
Some of the damaged cars have simple red lines down the entire side, others have been graffitied with offensive language, racist language and swastika symbols.
The incidents happened on a number of roads including Moorgreen Road, Albert Street, Weston Road, Granville Road and Princes Street.
Island Echo understands red spray paint has also been used to write ‘trick or treat’ on the walls of a communal hallway at a block of flats in the area.
Police say enquiries are ongoing, with no arrests made at this time.

The only flag symbol mentioned in this report is a swastika, accompanied by racist language.

needs punishing, such symbols are not acceptable in
2025 Britain.
I doubt the perpetrators mean to achieve anything more than garnering attention. Such people often haven’t nothing going for them. Anything is better than being sidelined
