A fantastic £1,100 was raised for charity at the annual Isle of Wight Gun Club charity shoot earlier this month.
Each year a small local charity is chosen following nominations from club members. This year, the Medina Marching Band was selected due to its recent support of one of the gun club’s members and their family.
The fixture is always very popular and well supported with not only an emphasis on raising funds, but also having fun and introducing new people to the sport of shooting.
The Isle of Wight Gun Club is based at Sainham, Godshill. It has been established for over 111 years and has a large membership of both men and women shooters. More information can be found at http://isleofwightgunclub.org.

Sadly, the Council limit the opening of the club grounds to a silly 4 hours every two weeks yet the rifle club next door can open anytime. Time for our Council to see the value of what this (and other clubs) do, social responsibility and community presence is being severely limited by the small mindedness of the Council.
The Club needs to have its chains removed so that the positive benefits such as above can be built upon and so that, for example, the shooters representing the Island such as at the island games etc have the real opportunity to improve performance just the same as other island competitors
