A shoplifter who stole from supermarket giants Waitrose and Sainsbury’s will learn his fate next year.
Billy Chilcott, 31, of Culver Parade in Sandown, admitted 2 counts of theft from a shop when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 28th November.
Prosecuting, Serena Edwards, told the court that on the 1st September, Chilcott and another male entered Waitrose in East Cowes. Once inside the pair filled bags up with spirits – 8 bottles in total – and left the store without paying.
The following month, on 29th October, Chilcott and another male entered Sainsbury’s in Newport and placed baby clothes valued at around £204.99 into a bag and left without making payment.
The court heard how Chilcott was last in court back in August and has more than £2,700 outstanding in his court account.
Defending Chilcott, Oscar Vincent said that his client had pleaded guilty on a full facts basis and that he had no recollection of the Waitrose theft.
The case was adjourned to allow a pre-sentence report be compiled. Chilcott was bailed with conditions until the 6th February.

Why does he need another pre sentence report, just read the Island Echo.
