A man caught drug driving with BZE in his system is to be sentenced next year.
Sam Hart, 38, of Church Road in Shanklin, admitted drug driving when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court earlier this week (3rd December).
Prosecuting, Lauren McConnell, told the court that on the 14th May at around 18:50 Police attention was drawn to a driver on College Close in Sandown. Officers followed the vehicle before pulling it over on Winchester Park Road.
At the scene a roadside drugs wipe was conducted which showed a positive reading for benzoylecgonine.
Defending Hart, Michael McGoldrick, said that his client had has a long-standing cocaine addiction and that he has referred himself to Inclusion.
The case was adjourned until the 28th March 2025 to allow a pre-sentence report to be compiled.
