Gritters will be hitting the Island’s road network from 18:00 this evening (Sunday) – and again just 11 hours later. Island Roads says that due to the forecast temperatures, its fleet of gritters will be treating the Island’s roads from 18:00. With another cold night in store, a 2nd gritting run will be carried out at 05:00 tomorrow morning (Monday). Motorists are urged to take additional care whenever travelling on the roads. Local weather forecasters IW Met Service say long, clear spells will develop as the night progresses which will lead to a widespread frost. Temperatures are expected to sit between 0c and -2c, although a few sheltered pockets could reach as low as -3c. Windward coasts will stay at around 1c.
