Island Roads’ fleet of gritters is being prepared for a full salt run later this afternoon (Wednesday) and again tomorrow morning as there is yet another cold night in store for the Isle of Wight. The highways PFI contractor says that the team will be hitting the roads from 17:00 and again from 05:00 on Thursday morning. Motorists are being urged to continue to take extra care wherever on the network during the cold conditions. Icy conditions were reported overnight and into this morning, in particular around rural central parts of the Island such as Merstone, Godshill Sandford and Whiteley Bank area.
