Greenmount Primary School has received the School Participation Award for their creative and collaborative entry based on the theme ‘My place, through my eyes’.
As part of the initiative, children were encouraged to produce artwork that reflected their home, school or village from their personal perspective. Rather than submitting individual pieces, Greenmount’s Key Stage 2 Art Club worked together on a single collaborative project, combining their ideas and creative flair.
Their final artwork was a striking mixed-media piece representing the Isle of Wight, capturing the spirit of the local area. The children used watercolours, oil pastels, collage and pencil to portray familiar landmarks, local food, wildlife and more.
The artwork was exhibited in the Education Area at the County Show, where it was chosen as the winning entry. On Monday (21st July), Graham Biss – County Show organiser and Managing Director of Natural Enterprises – visited the school to present the award and certificate to the children.
The project highlighted the strength of teamwork, artistic expression and pride in the Isle of Wight community.
