Leslies Motors has announced that it will introduce the Chery brand to its portfolio in the coming months, but will say goodbye to Mazda after nearly 50 years.
With over 75 years of trading history and deep roots in the local community, Leslies Motors continues to invest in the future of mobility on the Island, and this year will bring an exciting new range of vehicles and technology to Island motorists.
The addition of Chery reflects the company’s commitment to offering customers modern, innovative vehicles that suit the evolving needs of local drivers – and comes just weeks after the announcement that Jaecoo and Omoda will be joining Leslies at Northwood.
Louis Vanassche, Director at Leslies Motors, has said:
“We are incredibly excited to bring Chery to the Isle of Wight.
“As a family business that has served the local community for generations, we are always looking at how we can evolve and ensure we are offering the right vehicles for our customers now and into the future. Having seen what is coming from the brand, we genuinely believe this is an exciting step forward.”
It has been confirmed that Leslies Motors will conclude Mazda new vehicle sales at the end of February, following a long and successful 47-year association with the brand. The company expressed its gratitude for the many years of partnership and support from customers and staff alike.
Importantly for existing Mazda owners, Leslies Motors will retain authorised Mazda repairer status, meaning customers can continue to rely on manufacturer-approved servicing, maintenance, and technical expertise locally. The business will continue to invest in staff training and equipment to ensure ongoing support for Mazda vehicles on the Island.
The introduction of Chery will complement Leslies Motors’ existing franchise portfolio and represents continued investment in the local automotive landscape. The company has confirmed that the transition will not result in any job losses, with potential opportunities for additional recruitment as the new brand develops.
Further announcements regarding showroom developments and launch events are expected soon.
