On the day, however, he went one step further and got a local barber to not only shave off his beard but hair and eyebrows too!
George chose CLIC Sargent as his cousin Russell and partner Joanna’s 8 month old baby, Oscar is being treated for a Neuroblastoma Tumor on his spine into his abdomen.
The family have been supported by the charity since Oscar’s diagnosis, their CLIC Sargent Social Worker Nicky has provided invaluable financial and practical support and helped the family to stay at a CLIC Sargent Home from Home, to be close to the hospital while Oscar is having treatment.
“I’ve had my beard for about eight years and I have done this for 8 month old Oscar, who is such a little fighter and his parents that have been through so much; Russell and Joanna and not forgetting Oscar’s older brother Theo. I would NEVER want to put anyone through what this little family had been through!
“A massive thank you to everyone who has sponsored me from the bottom of my heart as they have helped this family and many other families that are having to go through this. Please remember from day to day there is always someone else worse off then you.”

Joanna Tosdevin, mother of Oscar said:
“We have been overwhelmed by how much George has raised. We have found the help from CLIC Sargent invaluable with our Social Worker Nicky and the Home from Home, Jean’s House in Southampton, which is where Oscar needs his treatment.
“We really appreciate everyone for being so generous in sponsoring George.”
Liz Blunt, Fundraising Engagement Manager at CLIC Sargent, said:
“An enormous thank you to George and all who have kindly sponsored him to raise vitally needed funds for children and young people with cancer. I have never known so much be raised from a beard shave! It’s an incredibly difficult time for our families coping with a cancer diagnosis and the added complications that Covid-19 brings too.
“I would like to wish Joanna, Russell, Theo and Oscar our very best wishes on behalf of CLIC Sargent and hope that Oscar’s treatment continues to go well. Thank you so much once again to George for raising such a considerable amount of money to support families like Oscar’s.”
