37-year-old Dean Clack has denied injuring a 1-year-old child during an incident at a residential address in Newport last year.
Mr Clack, of Avenue Road in Freshwater, appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court today (Tuesday) charged with causing assault/ill-treatment/neglect/abandonment of child/young person to cause unnecessary suffering/injury, and a separate charge of wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.
It is alleged that in May 2023, at an address in Newport, Clack caused serious injury to a child.
The court heard how injuries sustained by the toddler included a left-side haemorrhage.
The 37-year-old entered not guilty pleas to both charges at today’s hearing.
The case has been sent up to the Isle of Wight Crown Court on 11th November 2024 when a plea and trial preparation hearing will take place.
Dean Clack has been released on unconditional bail.
