A former Isle of Wight teenager who was caught with crack cocaine has been handed a fine by the courts.
Erkan Lusha, 19, of Old Commercial Road in Portsmouth pleaded guilty to 2 counts of possessing Class A drugs when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday (28th March).
Defending, Oscar Vincent told the court in mitigation that his client had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity, that the drugs found were for personal use and that he had since completely stopped taking all drugs. He also recently completed a Level 1 mechanics course at the Isle of Wight College and is hoping to complete Level 2 in Portsmouth starting in September.
In summary, Mr Vincent declared:
“He has learnt his lesson.”
Lusha was fined £40 for the 1st offence on 14th December 2022 in Brading and £80 for the 2nd offence on 4th February 2023 in Newport. He was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £48.
The prosecution also requested and was granted the forfeiture and destruction of the drugs in question.

I think it’s terrible.
