UPDATED: Forensic searches have been taking place across the Isle of Wight today (Friday) after three serving Police officers and three civilians were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit serious sexual offences on the Isle of Wight.
Mainland forensic investigation specialists have visited an unoccupied building on Spithead Business Center, Lake as well as an industrial unit on Marsh Close, Sandown after Police arrived at both locations late last night.
It is unclear if the detailed searches are part of the ongoing investigations by Hampshire Constabulary after six men were arrested on Thursday morning in relation to accusations made by a member of the public.
Residential properties have been searched by Police and forensic teams in Ryde and Cowes, as well as two properties in Newport. Teams returned to two of the four homes again today despite the unnamed men having been released on bail until February.
Hampshire Constabulary have not commented on the individual searches and is yet to make any further comment on the ongoing investigations.
UPDATE MONDAY: Police have concluded their forensic searches in both Newport and Ryde, however forensic officers remain in attendance at Marsh Close as investigations continue – although it is still unclear if the searches are in relation to Thursday’s arrests.
