The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for the Eastern Yar with a warning that Morton Common could flood again this evening (Tuesday). At Wroxall, 21mm of rain has been recorded over the past 24 hours, which is in addition to the prolonged rainfall already experienced over the last few months. From around 13:00, water will be ponded on low-lying land adjacent to the river throughout the river valley and on roads, cycle tracks and footpaths, between Whitwell and Bembridge. At Langbridge and Alverstone Road Bridge, the river will be close to the top of the riverbank. Flooding of Golf Links Road and Moreton Common Road, Sandown may occur from 18:00. Ditches around Fort Holiday Park will struggle to drain while river levels are high. Property flooding is possible should an additional 15mm of forecast rain materialise.
