freshwaterflatfireUPDATED: Firefighters from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are tonight (Monday) attending a flat fire in Freshwater.

Three appliances from Newport, Yarmouth and Freshwater have been mobilised to Sunset Close in the town following emergency calls reporting a property fire at 22:23.

Residents have been evacuated and all persons have been accounted for.

UPDATE @ 22: 43 – Police are in attendance alongside paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, who are currently treating one person for smoke inhalation.

Island Echo understands the male was rescued from the property.

One hose reel is being used to extinguish the flames.

UPDATE @ 23:18 – The fire has been successfully extinguished by fire crews.

One appliance from Freshwater remains at the scene ventilating the property, however the other two appliances have returned to station after standing down at just gone 23:00.

One person has been left in the care of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.

The cause of the incident is unknown.
