UPDATED: Firefighters from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance at St Mary’s Hospital, Newport this evening (Tuesday) following reports of a smell of smoke.
2 pumping appliances and an aerial ladder platform, all from Newport, have responded to the alert, which came in at just before 17:30. Cowes Fire Station have also turned out.
It is thought parts of the hospital have been evacuated as a precaution.
UPDATE – Fire crews have now stood down from the incident.
