Firefighters from Newport are tackling a small property fire on Pan Estate this evening (Friday).
2 appliances are on scene at Robin Hood Street, where a fire appears to have broken out on the ground floor of a residential property.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus and equipped with hose reel jets have been committed to the building to tackle the fire and dampen down the affected area.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service arrived on scene shortly after 19:00.
No injuries are thought to have been sustained.
Robin Hood Street is currently blocked to all traffic.
UPDATE – Island Echo understands the fire began in the kitchen and has led to significant smoke and fire damage.
