corsashideUPDATED: Firefighters from Newport are this afternoon (Sunday) attending a road traffic collision in Shide.

One female has become trapped in the incident, which has happened at the junction of Shide Road and College Road in a built up residential area.

A red Vuaxhall Corsa has collided with a garden wall, resulting in the vehicle becoming suspended in the air. The Vauxhall hatchback has also collided into a parked vehicle.

Police and paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are in attendance and are working alongside firefighters to free the trapped woman.

UPDATE @ 13:30 – One female has been cut free from her 63-reg vehicle and transferred into the care of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.

The patient has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport for treatment.

The road has been closed with motorists being diverted locally, however Southern Vectis’ Route 38 has now resumed a normal service.
