An open day is set to take place at Ryde Fire Station this coming Saturday (27th November) to shine a light on what it takes to become a firefighter.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS) is getting ready to recruit its next batch of full-time firefighters and is hosting a second open day on the Island.
Those who attend can find out more about what the job involves, the fitness levels and skills required, as well as the opportunities and benefits a career with HIWFRS can bring. It’s also a good chance to learn more about the many ways firefighters can make a difference to the local community in which they live.
Group Manager Dean Haward said:
“We’ll be recruiting for our next generation of full-time firefighters in January and want to attract those who may not have considered the role as a career option before.
“Being a firefighter is not just about putting out fires and responding to emergency incidents, although of course that will always remain an important part of the job.
“What we’re really looking for are people from all backgrounds who want to make a difference and help make life safer for their community.”
