Fears for the safety of a child seen hanging out of a high window in Ryde prompted an emergency response earlier this evening (Sunday).
Police, ambulance and fire crews were called to Union Street in the town at around 19:30 following reports from members of the public of a child hanging out of a window on a multistory building.
Firefighters from Ryde and Newport were called to the scene with 2 appliances, an aerial ladder platform and the service’s rescue tender all in attendance.
Thankfully, it was discovered that the youngster was safe and had been looking out of the window to catch a glimpse of marine traffic in the Solent.
Emergency crews were stood down a short while later.
