With this year’s summer parades cancelled, Sandown Carnival Association launched their Virtual Carnival in July, giving entrants the chance to win £50 by sending in a fancy dress photo.

The Carnival Committee has now voted for the prizewinners in 3 categories: children, adults and groups.

Paul Coueslant, Chair of the Carnival Committee, said:

“We had some great entries and any one of a number of really lovely photos might have won in the popular Children’s category.

“We’re now hoping very much that we can welcome back Sandown’s Carnival and Regatta events for 2022, starting with the town’s New Year’s Day fireworks in January”.

The winner of the children’s category was 4-year-old Isabella Pedreschi dressed as Rapunzel. 2nd place went to 3-year-old Oakley Blake, representing Medina Marching Band. Rounding off the children’s category is 9-year-old Amy-Louise Marchant with her homemade fairy costume.

70-year-old William Bremner took the honours in the adult category, with his prize being donated to the Jon Egging Trust for young people.

‘Flower Power’ by Sandown Green Town Volunteers, featuring Colin, Deb, Helen, Janette and Christine, secure the top spot for the groups.
