EXHAUSTED SAILORS RESCUED BY LIFEBOATS

exhaustedsailorsseaview3Two exhausted sailors have been safely brought ashore thanks to the efforts of two independent lifeboats, working together for the second time in the last week.

Ryde Inshore Rescue were tasked to launch by the National Maritime Operations Centre at around 13:15, following reports of a small sailing dinghy in difficultly off the Ryde coastline.

Having suffered a rigging failure and exhausted after several hours of sailing, the two male sea goers got into difficulty prompting the assistance of emergency teams including the Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service, who were also tasked to the scene.

exhaustedsailorsseaviewcoastguard2Having launched from Puckpool, the pair and their dinghy were taken ashore at nearby Seaview by Ryde Rescue 1 lifeboat to meet HM Coastguard members from Ryde Incident Response Team.

Now out of difficulty, the boat is being taken slowly along the shore to Puckpool to be recovered.

Thankfully, nobody has been injured.

The incident comes less than a week since both Ryde Inshore Rescue and Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue both came to the aid of two fisherman stuck under Ryde Pier.
