Freshwater Independent Lifeboat was paged yesterday evening (Friday) to a speedboat suffering with engine failure, the first of two shouts for the volunteer crew.
The lifeboat crew were tasked at 17:24 to the stricken boat, located in Scratchells Bay with four persons on board, before towing it to safe water and assessing the craft.
It was discovered that the boat’s fuel line had come loose and after a simple repair, the engines were restarted and Freshwater ILB escorted the speedboat back to Mudeford.
The evening wasn’t over for the Freshwater volunteer crew when they were tasked by Solent Coastguard again to a yacht aground on Hampstead Ledge. With no communication, crew members made contact with the lone sailor before checking the vessel for any damage.
The night drew to a close with Freshwater Lifeboat returning to station at 21.00.
