UPDATED: HM Coastguard and Bembridge RNLI are conducting a search of Culver Down following reports of a possible microlight having crashed onto the rocks below.
Bembridge RNLI Inshore Lifeboat is currently conducting a shoreline search around Whitecliff Bay and Culver Cliff to Yaverland.
Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team are en-route to the scene, according to reports.
UPDATE @ 15:20 – Search teams have been stood down following the discovery of kayaks and surfboards at Whitecliff Bay, which have been confirmed as the suspected microlight sighting.
The incident is being deemed a false alarm with good intent.
