A brand new Easter-themed charity event is set to bring families together on the Isle of Wight, with the inaugural Easter Bunny Hop taking place along Cowes Esplanade on Saturday 4th April at 11:00.
Organised by the Isle of Wight Round Table, the community event will see families, runners, children and even dogs take part in a light-hearted fun run along the West Cowes seafront, starting and finishing at Gurnard Sailing Club.
Participants can choose between a 2km or 4km route, with everyone encouraged to dress in Easter-themed costumes or pastel running gear. Bunny ears will also be provided for those taking part.
The event has been designed to be inclusive and accessible, welcoming all abilities from seasoned runners to families with young children and casual walkers.
Funds raised will support Tidal Family Support, a community-based, not-for-profit charity that works with families affected by separation or divorce. Money raised through entry fees, sponsorship and donations will go towards maintaining the charity’s services.
The Easter Bunny Hop is being supported by sponsors including Red Funnel Ferries, Diamond Adventures, Go Internet, Snap Fitness and Wadhams Café/Bar.
Mike Palin, Isle of Wight Round Table member and event organiser, has said:
“This is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together, celebrate Easter, and make a meaningful difference to families right here on the Isle of Wight.
“With the beautiful Cowes seafront as our setting and the support of our fantastic local sponsors, we’re hoping this will become a much-loved annual tradition.”
Alongside the run, there will be a charity raffle, complimentary Easter chocolate treats and opportunities for family photos. The start and finish location also offers access to a pub and family play park.
