An East Cowes man has been charged and will appear in court following the disruption of a town council meeting in March.
On 31st March, Simon Wheeler entered a meeting of East Cowes Town Council (ECTC), where the Norris Castle planning application was being discussed.
Wheeler, 55, had previously been convicted of using threatening, abusive and insulting words with the intent to cause fear of unlawful violence towards Cllr Karl Love, a member of both ECTC and the Isle of Wight Council.
As part of his conviction, Wheeler was given a 12-month restraining order to stay away from Cllr Love.
The 31st March meeting was adjourned, police were called and arrested a 55-year-old man who was bailed until 28th April.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson confirmed today (Tuesday) that Wheeler has now been charged with breaching a restraining order as well as using threatening or abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
Wheeler is due to appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on 31st May after being given bail with conditions.

He has ignored previous conditions so why does anyone think he will obey the latest ones, and the inevitable ones the Magistrates will give him?
So why isn’t the council up in court? They constantly disrupt the whole island on a daily basis
Because they are a snivelling corrupt bunch of self important snowflakes, power is what makes them tick..
here here! well said
Why is it that some people seem to think this man’s actions deserve some completely rediculous comments. What he has done is serious and should not be acceptable
