Police are hunting for a man who was involved in a violent road rage incident on the outskirts of Ryde, which saw a driver kicked to the floor and his vehicle damaged.
A Renault Kadjar was being driven along Harding Shute, off Beaper Shute, towards Ashey at just before 15:20 yesterday afternoon (Wednesday) when a white Ford Transit Custom suddenly emerged.
The van, which was being driven in the opposite direction towards Tesco, was involved in a damage-only collision with the Renault.
In an unexpected turn, 3 males emerged from the Transit and began damaging the Kadjar, with 1 of the males armed with a metal bar.
Shockingly, the innocent Renault driver, who had by this time exited his vehicle, was then assaulted by 2 of the 3 males present.
Passersby were able to alert the emergency services, who swiftly responded to the scene. The victim was subseqently taken to St Mary’s Hospital by ambulance, where he spent more than 8 hours being assessed and treated.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that a 21-year-old man from Totland Bay was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, criminal damage, and possession of an offensive weapon.
He was taken into custody for questioning and has since been released on bail until 18th June.
A second male fled the scene prior to the arrival of officers. The known individual is now being sought by Police.

Why was he released keep him in the cell no food only water, he doesn’t deserve to be let out on bail, disgusting behaviour from a 21 year old? Hope the other men are caught? the poor driver of the car hope he presses charges?
If it happened to a so called Elite person

I agree! Although i suppose with all these data protection acts these days it’s probably down to the police to give permission/allow island echo to release that information. But if the guy is on the run from something this serious, and they’re “known” by police, you’d certainly think that they’d want to release the guys info to catch him asap. It’s not like it’s hard to jump on the ferry and vanish, especially over in ryde!
