Police are tonight (Tuesday) searching for the driver of a van that has crashed on a busy junction in Shanklin, resulting in damage to another vehicle.
The Citroen Belingo has come to a rest against a wall and facing the opposite way on Queens Road, at the junction with North Road.
A Nissan Note has also sustained front end damage in the incident, but the female driver has escaped injury.
Police have deployed a local dog unit in the search for the driver of the van, who is said to have fled the scene of the collision which occurred shortly before 19:30.
Fled the scene. Yep, we can all hazard a guess at what that indicates. The scary thing is not knowing just how many illegal drivers are on our Island roads every day with minimal chances of getting caught unless they are involved in an RTA (like this idiot) or very rare standard police stop.
And the authorities say we do not need a dedicated traffic unit.
There are crashes every day now, and i would imagine the number of untaxed, no mot vehicles, uninsured and unlicensed drivers is going up daily because they know that the chances of getting caught is slim now.
So here goes another driver on the run, what is it this time? Drink, drug, no license, no insurance, please, please bring the road camera’s back & more police to stop & check these criminals, it’s a joke that these scumbags are getting away with it! We need safe, responsible drivers on the roads!! Please, please do something, someone!!
Drink or drugged driving AGAIN. These people are brainless, selfish and have no consideration for other road users or pedestrians. Something has GOT to be done to stop these idiots.
The island needs a Road Policing Unit and soon!!
We are all potential victims when we drive our cars on the island, we have no idea when the next victim will have a scumbag, illegal, driver ruin a normal day going about their business…
Our roads are not being policed any more, and the sycopaths now it….

I doubt it will be long before innocent people are injured, due to the lack of driving standards, and drink, drug driving etc etc… If either of the latter, should be instant 10 year ban, and fines from £1,000.00 UPWARDS… No more of this petty 12month ban and £185 fine.. GET THEM OFF our roads.. you could be the next casualty !! IF they have no income to pay fine, then a jail sentence no less than three years, the community service for another three years of UNPAID work !!
Is it going to take MORE deaths before something is done.. ?
