A Wootton man already serving a 3-year disqualification has had his ban extended after admitting drug driving.
Milo Gayle, 28, of High Street in Wootton, appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court earlier this week (1st October).
Prosecuting, Lauren McConnell told the court that on the 11th June 2024, an on-patrol Police officer noticed a red Mazda with a low front tyre.
Having followed the vehicle as it drove through Newport Town Centre, Gayle was eventually stopped on St James’ Street, where a roadside drugs wipe was conducted, showing a positive result for benzoylecgonine.
Gayle was arrested and taken to Newport Police Station.
Defending Gayle, Jim Osborne told the court that his client regrets taking the class-A substance and that he has no excuse as to why he did.
Gayle was handed a 36-month driving ban back in July after admitting his 2nd charge of driving with excess alcohol within the last years. In 2020, he was handed a conditional discharge for an offence of possession of cocaine.
The charge of drug driving pre-dates the drink driving offence but came to court later due to the need for Gayle’s blood sample to be analysed.
Magistrates opted to ban Gayle from driving for another 6 months, meaning he is currently serving a 40-month ban. He was also fined £230 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £92 surcharge fee.

Good outcome , let’s hope no further re offending
Let me get this right.. He was banned from driving and then was caught driving so he was given another ban?
Somebody give that judge a big pat on the back.
Magistrates ban him.
He ignores ban and drives anyway without a licence or insurance, and under the influence of a class A drug.
He apologise for taking drugs, not for driving whilst disqualified.
Magistrates ban him further knowing he ignored the first ban.
I’m kinda struggling with the Magistrates’ level of intelligence here, based on the facts, and their subsequent decision to ban him again. Hmmmm. Anyone care to explain?
Obviously a driving ban makes no difference to him, he’s still driving anyway, so what’s the point?
