Police have closed part of Sandown’s Broadway this afternoon (Monday) following a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.
Police and paramedics rushed to the scene near the junction with Winchester Park Road following reports of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.
The initial 999 call was made at around 13:45.
The injured pedestrian has been quickly transferred from the roadside into a nearby ambulance, ahead of onward conveyance to St Mary’s Hospital. It is unclear at this time as to how serious their injuries are.
Inquiries are underway to establish the full circumstances.
As a result of the incident, Broadway has been closed between Grove Road and Station Avenue.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area for the time being.
UPDATE @ 15:15 – Police have confirmed that a woman in her 70s suffered serious – but not life threatening – injuries.
