The Day Lewis Pharmacy on Pyle Street in Newport is set to close just 5 months after it opened.
As previously reported by Island Echo, the site was formerly a Lloyds Pharmacy but the store was closed shortly after the closure of their other Newport premises in Sainsbury’s. This left Lloyds with just 2 outlets on the Island – in East Cowes and Ryde.
It was in April that Day Lewis took over the pharmacy building on Pyle Street, opposite St Thomas’ Square. However, it has been confirmed that the doors are set to close.
Day Lewis does have another another pharmacy on the nearby High Street in Newport, which will continue to serve the local community, as well as sites in Carisbrooke, Cowes, Lake, Shanklin, Niton and Wootton.
It is not yet clear what will become of the premises in Pyle Street or whether any jobs will be lost as a result of the closure.

Another bookies shop or charity shop ???????
Shame so many stores closing !!!!!!
Nah, another coffee shop more like.
Thank goodness their branch in the High Street is staying open. Unlike ‘Boots’ one is not driven mad by ‘pop musak.’
This is very sad as the people who work there are always polite, I wish all staff who have worked there all the best for there future.
