Fundraisers are being invited to ‘Dash and Splash’ along the length of Sandown Bay this Saturday (14th August) to raise funds for Ryde charity, Aspire.
The 5km dash starts at Shanklin Rowing Club and continues all the way to Yaverland. This beautiful area has the largest bay on the Island which, at low tide, offers a unique run along the hard sand.
There are 43 groynes to negotiate along the run, most of which are a straight run through large gaps. The remaining 14 will be splashed around, which at low tide will be mostly ankle-deep. 2 groynes could be waist-deep.
Dash and Splash is a fun run and not a race! You may run, jog or walk whilst raising money for Aspire Ryde. Aspire, based on Dover Street, is a charity that works within the Island community and has worked tirelessly throughout the COVID pandemic supporting vulnerable Islanders with food parcels, hot meals, prescription deliveries and daily supportive phone calls.
You can register on the day at Shanklin Beach (by Shanklin Rowing Club) from 08:00. Registration costs £10 per adult, accompanied children £5.
The race starts at 09:15.
