Police and paramedics are on scene at a road traffic collision at Whippingham, which has led to the closure of the main road in and out of East Cowes tonight (Wednesday).
Emergency services were first called to the incident on Whippingham Road, close to the junction with Folly Lane, at around 20:00.
The road has now been closed in both directions by Police.
All traffic is being diverted in and both of East Cowes via Alverstone Road to Wootton.
Southern Vectis has advised that all Route 4 and 5 buses are suspended until further notice, with East Cowes unable to be served.
UPDATE @ 20:55 – The road has now reopened, under Police direction.
The incident has involved just a single vehicle, a white Citroën DS3, which has sustained heavy front end damage.
Thankfully, no serious injuries have been sustained.
Recovery of the car is being arranged.

Another island road that desperately requires speed cameras.
20mph is plenty
Sadiq Khan has the right idea.
50 is nifty…
20 is plenty
For you on a mobility scooter
Don’t get me started on mobility scooters,
many of them go too fast!
Its good no one was hurt! But they really need to look at putting another route in to East Cowes.
Out of it would be better.
Very true, so much poverty in East Cowes.
They need speed cameras
More bad driving on the Iow
Hence more speed cameras and CCTV is
desperately required to deal with such issues.
