Cowes RNLI have assisted an 18ft speedboat near Calshot tonight (Thursday) – the first shout for the volunteer crew in 6 weeks.
Solent Coastguard tasked Cowes’ Atlantic-class lifeboat to the aid of the speedboat in the vicinity of Southampton Water at around 19:40.
The casualty vessel was suffering from complete power failure meaning none of the lights, or the VHF radio, worked.
The sailing vessel ‘Concorde’ helped the rescue efforts by illuminating the speedboat, which was then taken safely ashore.
