A convicted rapist serving his sentence at Parkhurst spat in the face of a prison officer after shouting ‘I’m not a sex offender’, a court heard this week.
Ashley Mills, 36, of HMP Isle of Wight, who is currently serving the remainder of an 18-year prison sentence, pleaded guilty to 1 count of assault by beating at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning.
The court heard that the 36-year-old became agitated after he received his latest parcel delivered by prison mail.
Ann Smout, prosecuting said, Mills became aggravated as he believed some photos from his delivery were missing – questioning the officer on duty. He then shouted at the officer saying; ‘I want my photos’ and ‘I’m not a sex offender’ before spitting in the face of the officer when he returned later in the day.
The officer – who was classed as vulnerable- didn’t contract any illnesses or diseases despite Mills being COVID-19 positive at the time.
Defending himself, Mills said that he had ‘already apologised’ to the officer and that an apology was ‘good enough for me’ before admitting that he had spent a ‘couple of weeks’ in the segregation unit as punishment for the offence.
It was back in 2013 Mills pleaded guilty to 3 counts of rape, 1 of attempted rape and admitted 1 count of trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence – against a then 59-year-old woman – and was handed an 18-year sentence.
The 36-year-old was made subject to a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay a £22 surcharge fee – payable on release in 2031.
‘I want my photos’ and ‘I’m not a sex offender’
…
err newsflash – yes you are and if you are reading this Ashely, you need to remember – society never forgives and never forgets, so you will be carrying the tag of rapist sex offender for the rest of your miserable life. You will be sneered at, attacked and ostracised by the rest of society who are not rapist sex offenders, if you are ever let out, until you die. You are safer behind bars, I trust you realise that.
Hope that clears it up for you…Ashley.
Why hasn’t he got a life sentence with NO parole
does that surcharge include interest me wonders
what another sentence where the officer gets no real justice
What a complete waste of time and resources. A few years ago this sort of thing would have been dealt with internally with an internal hearing giving the creature additional days on his sentence. Now officers feel the matter needs to be dealt with by the courts? What on earth is going on with our prisons these days.
Its because they have “rights’ and they know how to play the system. If it was up to me sex offenders would lose all rights and be thrown in a damp dark cell and never be let out again – can never be trusted in the future.
And, maybe, castrated!!!
Ouch !!
To our marvellous court, thank you so much for the support that you give to the likes of prison officers, police and so on. NOT
SCUM, just get r I’d of this vile vermin
£22 fine.
Give him an extra 10 years.
