Police and Crime Commissioner Donna Jones has offered reassurance to communities who may feel anxious after the UK’s terror threat level was raised to severe following a stabbing in North London last week (29th April).
PCC Donna Jones has said:
“I understand that any increase in the national threat level can feel worrying, and I want to reassure people across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight that this decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to keep communities safe.
“The safety of everyone who lives, works and visits our area is my absolute priority. I am in regular contact with the Chief Constable and fully support the enhanced police patrols you will see, particularly around places of worship and other public spaces. These measures are sensible, planned and focused on reassurance as much as prevention.
“I want to be very clear in saying to our Jewish communities and all those who may feel anxious as a result of this announcement: you are valued, you are supported, and you are not alone. I will continue to ensure that the policing response, and wider support services, reflect that assurance.
“If you have concerns, please speak to a police officer or reach out to local support organisations. Reporting suspicious behaviour really does make a difference, and I encourage everyone to remain alert while continuing to go about their daily lives.”
Report anything that doesn’t feel right to police via the Anti-Terrorist Hotline on 0800 789 123.

“I want to be very clear in saying to our Jewish communities …you are supported, and you are not alone.”
But they are NOT supported and like the rest of us they ARE alone.
Even on the island, we have nut jobs who organise marches and demonstrations supporting proscribed terrorist groups and on the mainland, such criminal behaviour is commonplace every week with very few, if any arrests or deportations
Liebore and the Lietories are to blame.
They won’t be able to afford the ferry fare to get over here let alone bomb the place
My thoughts exactly. I fear the hovercraft and ferry prices
more than I do the threat level.
It’s a wonderful place the Isle of Wight
Because we have a moat
The great unwashed stay well away
‘Cause getting here takes a boat.
They can squabble and shout as much as they like
They can protest march and riot
Just so long as they stay on their side of the pond
and leave us to peace and quiet.
