Hospitality and Catering students studying at the Isle of Wight College have recently entered the prestigious national Nestle Toque D’or competition.
5 highly skilled Level 2 and 3 students from the Isle of Wight College were entered into the national competition and were tasked with delivering a high-end meal or cocktail via the Olio food app with a focus on local produce and sustainability. Out of over 1,000 entries from colleges across the country, only 12 finalists have been chosen.
From the 5 students, 2 have been chosen to progress to the final which will be held in London.
Jess Metcalf, who is studying a Level 3 Supervisor Apprenticeship and Marc Barker, who is studying Level 3 Hospitality Supervision and Leadership, will be joined by their college mentor and restaurant manager Emmanuel Ferdinand.
Emmanuel has said:
“It has been a long journey to reach the final, and I am very proud of all the students which have participated (kitchen and front of house). I would like them to win, and we will do our best to do so – an amazing achievement for our college. I am proud to have such amazing students”.
