Police and HM Coastguard have responded to a landslip at a popular Isle of Wight beach this afternoon (Saturday).
It was at around 14:00 that emergency services were alerted to an unfolding incident at Hanover Point, Compton – off Military Road in the West Wight.
Initial fears were that persons may have been injured by the cliff fall, but those fears have been quickly alleviated.
It has been confirmed that no persons have been injured.
Needles Coastguard Rescue Team have responded to the visitor hotspot, alongside officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary.

Complete misinformation! The coastguard was called due to an ongoing land slide next to the wooden stairs! To which has now been cordoned off with tape, a drone was launched by the police and the coast guard and police are now monitoring as the tide is going in to see how the land reacts with the road. Police responded incase the need for crowd control and the closure of military road, due to the amount of people present on such a lovely day, the first of which was a nearby firearms unit. Not at any point was there mention or fears of someone falling off the cliff or being injured anywhere near said cliff, i should know, i was the one who called it in! Need to do some more fact checking mate 😉
Who are you the news of the world.
Lol
