The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for the Isle of Wight coast, with parts of East Cowes and Cowes expected to experience flooding later today (Tuesday) and into tomorrow.
It’s said that high tide tonight will bring the potential for flooding at some seafront roads, esplanades and car parks across the Island.
It is predicted that water will be high up slipways in Cowes, affecting Medina Road and the floating bridge.
In East Cowes, seawater forced up through drains may cause minor impacts to the road at Albany Road.
Local residents are warned that flooding is possible for 1 hour either side of Tuesday evening’s tide at 21:47. Considerations should be made whether to activate any flood protection products.
The weather increases tide table values by 0.34m. Total forecast tide is 4.63 metres Chart Datum (2.04 mAOD).
Tomorrow’s morning tide at 10:02 is forecast to be 50cm higher (2.54 mAOD).
