The sight and smell of smoke issuing from a building on Ryde Esplanade prompted a turnout for the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service yesterday evening (Thursday).
1 appliance was mobilised to Blaze restaurant on the seafront at just before 18:00 following reports of a chimney fire, which was pointed out to staff by a passing member of the public.
Firefighters quickly established that a small fire had broken out surrounding a flue, which was extinguished using rods. A Thermal Imaging Camera was used to check for any hotspots.
The crew returned to station by 18:45.
