UPDATED: Fire crews are this evening (Tuesday) dealing with a chimney fire at Briddlesford Lodge Farm, Wootton.
One pumping appliance from Newport Fire Station, along with an aerial appliance from Newport, responded to the call at around 19:45.
Firefighters are continuing to tackle the fire, resulting in the closure of Briddlesford Road in both directions from the junction of Blacklands Lane to Park Road, Wootton.
UPDATE @ 21:00 – Firefighters have successfully contained the chimney fire, which has broken out in a farm house adjacent to the popular Bluebells Café. The café and farm are unaffected.
A hard road closure has now been put in place by HSS Hire in both directions.
UPDATE @ 22:45 – Both fire appliances have now left the scene and returned to Newport Fire Station.
UPDATE @ 23:20 – Briddlesford Road has now fully reopened, according to HSS Hire.
