Convicted rapist Graham Medway will not have his sentence referred to the Court of Appeal, it has been confirmed.
62-year-old Monster Medway orally raped a 3-year-old girl at Fort Victoria Country Park in August 2020. He admitted the sickening assault and was sentenced to 14 years in prison for his horrendous crime – to serve 9 years behind bars and a further 5 years on licence.
Last month it was reported that a request was submitted for the sentence to be reconsidered.
A spokesperson for the Attorney General’s Office has said:
“The Solicitor General was shocked by this case and wishes to express his deepest sympathies to the victim and their family.
“After careful consideration the Solicitor General has concluded that he could not refer this case to the Court of Appeal.“A referral under the Unduly Lenient Sentence scheme to the Court of Appeal can only be made if a sentence is not just lenient but unduly so, such that the sentencing judge made a gross error or imposed a sentence outside the range of sentences reasonably available in the circumstances of the offence.
“The threshold is a high one, and the test was not met in this case.”

test was not met in this case
a joke surely – his crime, met the case for a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole, however, the whimsical hand wringing do gooders have got this down to a nine year period behind bars. Pathetic. This wretch should simply be taken out to the prison yard after nine years and shot.
The test, as it says, is whether the judge made a gross error or sentenced outside the sentencing guidelines. The Judge did not.
He could have got life in prison, or under the law he could get less. He got less.
Why shoot him after 9 years? Shoot him now and save money. Send his family the bill for the bullet. But before you do that, you’ll need to get the law changed.
?? – no laws need changing – the day they let him out, is the day it will be open season on him.
This is a sick sick person who should never be released… Think of the poor child and their family…. Lock him up and throw away the key
morally right or wrong, this is a legally sound decision.
I am somewhat surprised that no condition of release has been imposed. I would have thought it within the judges legal powers to insist on a psychiatric report before release is decided to determine whether he will reoffend in 9 years.
Having said all that, there is a high proportion of child sex offenders who commit suicide whilst in prison. He has 9 years to sort that out, or maybe someone will sort it out for him.
Hopefully…. However be nicer if he suffers
?? you sound like just the sort of handwringing do gooder we all hate. This p rick should not have any reports done, there should be no chance whatsoever of release – there is no way back for him, he has done what he has done and society will never, ever forgive or forget, so discussion surrounding release and reoffending is irrelevant.
Meanwhile in the real world, he is subject to the law. It doesn’t matter what the baying mob think.
You can say what you think should happen, but unless you decide to run for parliament, get elected, introduce a bill, and get it past the commons and the lord’s, your opinion doesn’t mean a thing.
If you want to keep him in prison you have to do so legally. On the other hand if you or anyone else decides to lynch him after he is released, you will be doing some time yourself. No amount of posturing on the internet will help you when a big boy wants to be your special friend.
But then again, you are just spouting your mouth off on the internet. You obviously have no intention of doing anything to him or taking the consequences. Shout a bit louder, it won’t change anything but it might make you feel better.
?? – we will do what we want and proof is required before someone goes to jail – bear that in mind.
meanwhile in the actual real world, sympathisers like you, get tarred with the same brush, as society doesn’t like anyone who has any sympathy for these low lives
Where have I said I have any sympathy for him?
Legally the judgement is sound. If you don’t like that, get the law changed if you can.
Or just rant about it on the internet and get nowhere. Entirely up to you, but don’t you ever dare claim that people are tarred with the same brush without evidence you sick little man.
stop talking about him having release conditions then..that is proof enough, that you do not see things the way that the rest of society does, regarding these individuals and as such, your views are disregarded as the ramblings of a lefty socialist. – we expect him to be locked up for ever.
and as usual, hand wringing do gooders show their true colours by insulting people, when they do not get their own way
you came out with the insults first.
Do you really not understand that YOU dont get to decide whether he is released or not. The LAW makes that decision. You can expect him to be locked up forever, but he wont be.
By requiring a psyciatric report before release, it makes it less likely he will ever be released.
I hope Ive written that in words you can understand.
doesn’t matter ??
society as a whole decides whether laws are fit for purpose or not –
there is no point putting the word law in capitals as that means you are shouting – it isn’t going to make any difference – that filthy scumbag wasn’t scared of prison or took any notice of the law, otherwise that innocent little girl would not be suffering.
He will be kept where he is and will be attacked..public opinion is that he stays where he is – and your opinion means nothing.
no release, no consideration, no come back after what he has done.
it is not legally sound, it is the decision of whimsical do gooders
Really? Where did you study law?
lets see if you continue with your hand wringing do gooder attitude when it is one of your family that is sexually assaulted by a filthy and disgusting individual – bet you won’t be so pathetically woke then.
if he ever gets out and returns to the island, there are plenty who are waiting patiently to ensure he ends up in a ditch.
do not need to…either the state locks these scumbags up for ever or society will deal with them and that means, spraying an appropriate word across their front door, making sure all the neighbours know who they have living in their midst and then giving the police a call, advising them that they had better get the scum bag out or he will be lynched.
I just wonder how those people, who have him cover stories when he was questioned on a previous allegation feel right now!!!
Knowing they helped this repugnant man walk free, only to go and RAPE a CHILD.
They must be proud.
exactly banner – people like that are no better in my view and anyone that supports these people are usually viewed with skepticism also, as the old saying…like finds like, is always referred to.
In the meantime, people are now being threatened with 10 years if they lie at UK borders. There some massively flawed inconsistancies with the judicial system. Can’t blame people for feeling angry and let down. I really feel for the victim and family. When released, a victim who still won’t be able to fully comprehend the severity of damage caused. It’s a insult.
no one will go to jail for any of it – all talk by the MP’s
same as the police claiming they investigate assaults against paedo’s – what they say is far different to what they do – tree hugging do gooders always lose in the end.
I respectfully agree. That’s the problem. More threats from the top, that everybody knows it’s a ridiculous threat that is highly unlikely to be implemented.
