CAR ROLLS ON SHANKLIN OUTSKIRTS

rtcpoliceambulanceUPDATED: A car is reported to have rolled and landed on its roof on the outskirts of Shanklin this afternoon (Saturday).

Police and ambulance crews have been called to the scene off Cowleaze Hill between Shanklin and Ventnor, where it is understood a red car has left the carriageway and come to rest in a field.

The incident occurred at around 14:45.

UPDATE @ 15:33 – A red 2004 Honda Civic has been involved in the incident, which has resulted in one male being seen to by paramedics.

Passers-by are understood to have stopped to assist the driver and safely turn off the vehicle. A number of trees have been damaged.

The road remains open in both directions.

UPDATE @ 17:21 – The vehicle has now been recovered.

No one has been seriously injured.
