The number of road traffic incidents on the Island’s roads continues to rise in the icy conditions, with a car having come to rest on its roof at Calbourne this morning (Wednesday).
Police and ambulance crews are in attendance at the scene on Middle Road near to The Sun Inn after being alerted to the incident at around 09:20. A Kia Rio is said to be on its roof, however the driver has freed themselves from the vehicle.
Meanwhile at nearby Calbourne Mill, another car – a Vauxhall – has been involved in a minor collision. Police are in attendance.
This morning’s incidents come after the same stretch of road saw two collisions last night. A motorcycle and car were involved in a collision near The Sun Inn and a car hit a tree at Westover Farm.
In Bembridge, a motorcyclist came off his bike at Bembridge Airport at around 19:00 and was found in the middle of the road by a passer by. He escaped any serious injury and is now back at home.
Another car rolled onto its roof at Bleak Down, Niton last night. The road was closed whilst the vehicle was recovered.
