Firefighters have this morning (Tuesday) tackled a car fire off The Broadway in Sandown, resulting in the main through road being closed to motorists for over 30 minutes.
One appliance from Shanklin Fire Station was called to the scene near to The Heights crossroads shortly before 09:00 following a 999 call reporting a car having caught fire on a residential driveway.
The front end of the Peugeot 206 estate has been completely destroyed.
The Broadway was closed in both directions whilst crews tackle the engine bay fire, resulting in significant traffic delays in the area.
The road has since reopened.
