UPDATED WITH VIDEO: A car fire has broken out in Ryde this afternoon (Friday), causing severe damage to the vehicle.
One pumping appliance from Ryde Fire Station is currently tackling the blaze, which has broke out in a Vauxhall Zafira at the bottom of East Hill Road. The people carrier has become engulfed by the flames.
The road is currently blocked.
The incident is the latest in a series of Zafira car fires on the Island in the past couple of years.
UPDATE @ 15:25 – The fire has been extinguished by firefighters.
The occupants of the vehicle have escaped uninjured.
The road remains open, however under Police direction.
