Emergency services have been called to Leeson Road in Ventnor this afternoon (Tuesday) where a car has veered off the road.
The incident, which has occurred on the main road between Shanklin and Ventnor, has involved a Kia Pride.
Police are on the scene alongside Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, which has responded with 3 appliances sent from Ryde and Newport fire stations.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service is also on scene with multiple resources.
It appears that the car has collided with a retaining wall.
The road remains open in both directions.

UPDATE ON 12TH MAY – Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary have confirmed that the 89-year-old male involved in the incident passed away on Monday 8th May.
A file is being prepared for the coroner.

with all them services you wood think there was a 3 car crash with a fire
Agreed, with services on the IOW you either get nothing or over the top,so much for Hampshire Fire – another incident in Ventnor but no turn out from Ventnor or close stations at Shanklin or Sandown – soon be another death due to delays in attendance bring back the old IOW fire service with white fire engines and more full time and part time fire officers – Ryde / Newport to Ventnor must take at least 20mins from call to 999
I’m confused,so people are happy that response times are longer now than 20plus years ago !.
Well before commenting can you take some basic English language lessons! I would expect if it was yourself, a family member or a friend and the police turned up sometime later on a bicycle, you would doubtless have something to say too!
Maleficent, he is just another pathetic and pointless benefit leeching troll, normally has to share the one family brain cell but it wasn’t his turn this year.
Typical vaxtard drivel
Seems a bit OTT for a little Kia. The retaining wall probably isn’t even damaged.
Time to prosecute all these delinquent inanimate objects that are terrorising law abiding A1 drivers out there.
Our precept payments went up yet the fire service are travelling further to attend, something not quite right here!
It’s because of the amount of mobility scooter incidents they have to attend.
I always goes in the middle of the road, especially if I’ve been in the Vectis Club on a lunchtime one!
